Alfa’s for Sale

GTV Cup No. 93 - Limited Edition 3ltr V6 24v - £6,995

I have owned this car for around 2 years and no expense has been spared in making this one of the finest examples in that time. The car is in fantastic condition all round and performs really well. All the servicing is up to date so all you need do is drive it and enjoy it! I am asking a very fair price of £6,995 (reduced from £7,495) which you will see when you look at the spec and work done below! Thanks for looking, please get in touch if you are interested.

The Alfa Romeo GTV Cup:

The Cup was limited edition run of just 155 cars made by Alfa Romeo in 2002 to celebrate their success in motorsport. The Cup's received the fabulous 3 litre V6 engine and re-styled bodywork as a homage to the racing intent. The alloys were also a limited edition version of the iconic 17" 'teledial", sprayed in a deep 'titanium' like finish - they look stunning! Inside the cars were treated to a special half leather interior by Momo with greatly improved seats over the standard cars; the Cup's deep bucket seats are both highly comfortably and actually offer good support through spirited driving, the lack of which was a common cause for complaint on the standard cars. A few other aspects of the interior trim changed including the centre dash which was again had a special finish and is the home of the limited edition plaque to remind you that you're driving something that is about as rare and unique on British roads as any top sports car.

The Driving Experience:

Fantastic. This must be one of the best driving front wheel drive cars ever made, Alfa did an awesome job when setting up the rear suspension on these which makes the car turn in with the responsiveness of a rear drive car. The suspension is firm whilst remaining comfortable, round the bends the car just grips superbly. And then there's the engine. The V6 produces masses of torque low down which makes it such a versatile car - you can plod down the road at a little over 1,000 quite happily but equally the engine is just scintillating right up to the 7,000 RPM limit. In practice the car feels quicker than its stats - it's difficult to get such a powerful FWD car of the line but once you're on the move the car's acceleration is extremely impressive. This is a quick car.

WK52 DTX Specification:

I bought this car with just 36,000 miles on the clock and it was in great condition then, but over the last couple of years I've ensured all aspects of the car are in tip top condition. Many people will tell you their GTV is in great condition, but there are many little points you may not notice on a first test drive. So here's the spec:

·         49,878 miles - genuinely low mileage

·         MOT is through to November, Tax to next May

·         Excellent condition throughout - the bodywork and paint is in great condition as is the interior

·         3 ltr V6 24v - the fantastic 220BHP engine that takes the car to 60 in a little over 6 secs and on to a top speed in excess of 155 mph!

·         Cambelt recently done at 37,000

·         Falken FK452 performance tyres all round - I only put these on 6 months ago so are almost as good as new

·         Full history of servicing - top spec parts used including high quality semi-synthetic oil - the last change was just 1k ago

·         6 speed gearbox - great for cruising or working up and down through the country lanes

·         Rear suspension fully polybushed with powder-coated arms and new front wishbones

·         Ferrodo DS2500 brake pads - these pads are the ultimate for this car and provide fantastic stopping power. Fitted with custom made shims - they run silent all the time! The car is also properly bled with high spec brake fluid.

·         Goodridge Stainless Brake hoses - these not only last longer than the standard rubber ones which can perish but they also significantly improve the pedal feel when braking.

·         New centre and rear section exhaust - these have been recently fitted and so are in fantastic condition. The rear section is from an earlier GTV so removes one of the silencers - fear not the Cup has 3 silencers plus 2 cats as standard and in that guise they make no noise whatsoever - a little boring for an Italian sports car. The earlier silencer allows the engine to breathe a little easier and releases just a little of that V6 burble without in any way being too noisy around town or on the motorway!

·         New oil cooler and pipework

·         Rear screen heater re-wired - an annoying and common fault on GTV's is that the rear screen heater can burn out the fuse. This can be re-wired correctly to ensure it doesn't happen - which I have done.

·         Adjusted auto drop windows - many GTV's have the windows poorly adjusted so the auto drop doesn't work - these have been fully serviced and set to drop properly, every time!

·         Blaupunkt CD head unit and up-rated speakers - a full component speaker installation in the front replaces the very poor standard items. These have been fitted to a professional standard with correct mounting plates made up. The electric aerial has also been replaced with a high spec version as the standard ones often fail. The result of this is a great sounding stereo and a massive improvement on the standard car.
